What No One Tells You About Grief

We will all face this.

None of us are immune.

Life happens.

Death happens.

Then grief happens.

And somehow, we have to go back to work and attempt to do our jobs.

Here's what you may not realize about grief...

  1. Grief is a journey, not a destination. It does not end. It can be managed with time & effort.

  2. Focus & concentration can be compromised by grief, making it more difficult for people to carry out detail-oriented work. Forgetfulness is also a common symptom.

  3. Grief can affect sleep...people may be unable to sleep or experience interrupted sleep, so they may come to work extra fatigued physically, not just emotionally.

  4. Grief avoided or unacknowledged can become a serious problem, yet most of us are ill-equipped to support someone properly through grief.

  5. There are simple ways you can offer support to a grieving person in the workplace that can make a huge difference in their journey.

I am a workplace wellbeing expert who also happened to be a grief counselor for nine years.

I have supported countless companies, schools, organizations, families, & individuals through grief & would be more than happy to equip you with the words, gestures, tools, & framework to be ready when grief comes knocking on your door.

How you show up for your team in times of real crisis, matters.
